Having suspended scrap imports last week, Turkish steelmakers managed to get reductions from exporters, who started the year with aggressive pricing policy.
In particular, market participants report some traders are ready to grant discounts when making a deal.
After mills refused to accept the so called discount prices of Belgian scrap collector, who quoted $496/t C&F for HMS 1&2 (70:30), $509/t C&F and $530/t C&F for shredded material and P&S, respectively, the company pushed its offers down to $489/t C&F for HMS 1&2 (70:30).
Besides, mills keep putting pressure on suppliers of the Azov-Black Sea basin, bidding no higher than $485/t C&F for A3, against $495/t C&F a week earlier.
